Write: Argument
Draw readers into the narrative flow & arguments you wish to present.
About the Class
Why should readers care about your text? How do you build on existing points of view? How do you deliver new positions and findings? How do you form a thesis statement? What strategies of narrative flow best deliver your arguments? How do you effectively transition between sentences and between paragraphs? How do you meet your readers’ expectations? In this course, students will learn to write argumentatively, whether for applications, catalogues, newspapers, business pitches, speeches, journals, magazines, blogs, or for academic courses and publishers. Over eight sessions, we will address the ideal architecture of completed texts, helping you draw readers into the narrative flow and arguments you wish to present. Students who complete the course (attendance) are eligible for a BICAR Certificate of Completion. Those who complete all three Write courses - Style, Argument and Logic - over two calendar years are eligible for a BICAR Diploma in The Art and Architecture of Language.
