This course considers the COVID-19 pandemic one year after its ‘meteoric’ assault. What have we unlearned and what have we learned? We’ll treat analytically the political, social, cultural, academic, and scientific approaches to our contemporary pandemic. We’ll analyse everyday news, speech, rumours on and about the pandemic over the past year, ‘expert’ attempts to tame the uncertainty of pandemic language, as well as critical philosophers of structural crisis, with this latest round in mind: Hegel, Marx, Freud, Lacan, Zizek, Frank Ruda, Agon Hamza, and Oxana Timofeeva.
